Preparing to edit

Now we have finished filming we can start to prepare to edit the footage and add in the audio and song.

We have just started looking at our footage and reviewing them for errors, we created a table so that we can determine which clips we want and will discard.

We have also started a new meeting to discuss any issues we may have.

Once Kamil finishes correcting the storyboard and I the shot list we can final create our edit decision list, this means that all the clips we are going to use in our final music video will be placed on there, but before we would have taken each chose clip, placed in and out points on them and officially renamed them.

Finally we will put the clips into bins with our names on, this means that when it comes to picking out the videos for our own raw material it will be and quick and easy process and there will be no confusion about whos filmed which clip.

Update Report

Now we have finished filming, we can look back and change the production documents, because they will be different to the footage we filmed as we had to change our idea to be able to film - this was because of the weather.

The first change was that we agreed to film in the afternoon instead of the evening, because by the time it got dark it had started to rain. Meaning we could not take out the camera and tripod. We will now have to edit the footage by making it look darker to go with the lyrics of the song.

The second big change we made was to remake the storyboard because we wanted to change our idea so we could get the filming down quicker. We decided that (because of the weather) we were going to film most of the music video in Kamil's house and only some outside. This means we had to change the storyboard and shot list as well as the production schedule and risk assessment.

The last thing we decided to change was the events which happen in the music video, we decided to show more of the hooded figure moving things and trying to get to Kamil instead of Kamil thinking there is someone there.

we finally managed to re film the rest of our music video, however it took a long time because the weather kept turning very quickly and i did not want the camera or tripod to get wet! We had to re film the first scenes because Kamil was wearing different trouser and wearing his bag which was different later on in the video, this would have caused continuity errors.

We met at the college to film and filmed a total of 7 small walking scenes which will be the opening of our music video so it was important we got it filmed as this will be edited first.

Me and Kirsty took it in turns to film Kamil walking around and out the college. Then through the college car park and down Saltash hill.

My Role: My role was to carry the camera and need documents (storyboard, Call sheet and Production schedule) to the locations. I then half filmed the footage with kirsty and finally directed Kamil through each scene and told Kirsty where the best place was to put the camera.


I enjoyed filming the final part of our music video however, i am more glad it is finally finished at it was hard work, having to reschedule the filming because of the weather. From planning and filming the music video i have so far learnt that it is easier to plan a music video indoors so that weather is not a problem and also to use more locations to make it more interesting.

This time the weather was better so we could outside so we could go film the pieces which we needed to, to make it look like he was walking home from work. More so, we had decided that when we start to edit the footage we are going to have to fade the footage so it looks darker to match the lyrics in the song. The reason we finally decided to film in the morning was because every evening the weather turned and we could not film because it raining and dangerous high winds.

We had lots of fun filming outside and we worked well as a team to get the outside filming done before it started to rain again. We changed the story-line however, because we have realised that the originally music video might have been boring, so by changing it to have more stuff happening in the house, it will keep the audience interested.

My Personal role; My role was to help film with Kirsty and chose different angles that would make the video look more interesting. I also directed the production again, making sure i took photos for proof of work and told both Kamil and Kirsty what bit they were doing.

As we started to pack up, Kamil realised that he was wearing different trouser and not carrying his pack-pact. This means that we will have to redo the footage which we filmed on Friday because of this continuity error. But it is okay because it only took us 30 minutes to film the first part of the music video.

Monday 10th January

Kirsty and I arrived at Kamil's house at 13.00 and Kirsty set up the tripod in the downstairs bathroom whilst I got out the camera. We then filmed all of the parts which was in the house, this is because we could not go outside as it was raining.

We made sure we took lots of pictures of each room we used for filming and pictures of us filming with the equipment and props.

my personally role: my personal role was to film some of the scenes inside the house, however, i also directed the production by telling Kamil where best to stand and what he was going to do in this part of the recording. I then told Kirsty how much she was going to film and when to begin.

Every time we started a new piece i counted in Kirsty 3,2,1 at 0 Kamil we start to act his part whilst Kirsty filmed and looked for anything wrong that we might have to redo.

Filming went well and we got it done quick than first expected. We only has to redo one part, this is because if we did not then we would have continuity problems.
